Call for applications for the The 8th Scandinavian Training Program in Paediatric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care 2011-2012
The Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (SSAI) co-ordinates an advanced Inter-Nordic education program in Paediatric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. This education program aims at physicians who recently have received their specialist degree in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. The training program is limited to 14-18 trainees from the Nordic countries. The training period is 24 months, starting from September 1, 2011.
During the training period, the Steering Committee for this program organises four theoretical courses. These courses will circulate between the Nordic Countries and the language will be English. The training period includes a one-month exchange program at a University Hospital Department in another country. Trainees completing the two-year Inter-Nordic training program will receive a Diploma in Paediatric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care from the SSAI. The program has this year been revised, updated and extended to a two years programme with even more focus on the theoretical and clinical education. Concluding each course there will be an evaluation of the candidates and at the end of the program they will have to present a project.
The trainee must arrange an appointment at a Department of Paediatric Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at a University Hospital in Copenhagen, Odense, Ã…rhus, Oslo, Trondheim, Gothenburg, Lund, Stockholm, Helsinki, Oulu or Turku. When the Department accepts the trainee, the host clinic will employ the trainee in an appropriate position during the training program.
All expenses for this program (including travelling, accommodation and a fee for each of the three courses as well as support for expenses during the exchange programme) will be covered for by the host clinic. The 24 months of clinical practice can be at different departments, with a minimum of 12 months at the university hospital.
