Scandinavian Intensivist Meeting 2027

The 6th Scandinavian Intensivist Meeting will be 25-27 August 2027 in Wonderful Copenhagen

Come August 2027 Copenhagen will be hosting the 6th edition of the very well regarded Scandinavina intensivist meeting which will also be a chance to celebrate the 75th anniversary of what was arguably the birth of modern intensive care.

From the website:

The first Scandinavian Intensivist Meeting (SIM) was held in Helsinki in 2014 as an initiative to strengthen academia in Scandinavian intensive care medicine. The focus was on a thematic, single-session, low-budget meeting with short presentations, plenty of time for discussions, and a full social program. The SIM was held very successfully every second year from 2014 to 2018 in Helsinki and SSAI generously was the economic guarantee. The 2020 meeting planned in Copenhagen had to be canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. After good meetings in Copenhagen in 2023 and 2025, the next SIM will be from 25 – 27 August 2027 in Copenhagen.

The 27th of August 2027 is the 75th anniversary for the birth of intensive care during the polio epidemic in Copenhagen in 1952 where Bjørn Ibsen cleared the airways, ventilated, and monitored Vivi Ebers, a 12-year-old girl dying from severe bulbar poliomyelitis. Vivi survived, the management of severe cases was immediately changed and intensive care was born.

The theme of SIM 2027 will therefor be Intensive Care Medicine – Past, Present & Future

As always, SIM 2027 will be a single-track, low-key meeting with interaction, networking, and a full social program. The ACTA foundation generously supports the meeting, which means that SIM is independent from industry, and the full meeting package for SIM 2027 will be only €250 including the full social program.

All healthcare professionals and academics involved in intensive care medicine are warmly welcomed in Copenhagen on 25 – 27 August 2027 to be inspired and educated and to network with colleagues and friends. If you have data to share, submit an abstract for presentation, so that we may discuss your work and learn from you.

We’re already hard at work, so stay tuned and watch the deadlines for registration and abstract submission when we get closer to the meeting. In the meantime, feel free to check out the SIM 2027 programme (Pending).

Looking forward to meeting you in Copenhagen!
